My Bio

A native of Huntsville, Alabama, Amy Heidish earned a BFA in Motion Picture, Television & Recording Arts at Florida State University. After moving to Los Angeles, she became a member of Playwrights 6, a theatre company in Los Angeles managed by playwrights and dedicated to developing, producing and promoting high quality works by LA dramatists.

During her tenure at P6, Heidish wrote and produced her first full-length play entitled Dead Girl’s Diary in spring 2002, which was staged at The Actors Lab in Hollywood, and landed a Backstage West 2002 Garland citation for Carol Shannon’s performance as “Maddy.”  Her second full-length play, The Big Ever After, was a co-production between P6 and The ARK Theatre Company and was chosen as an LA Weekly Critic’s Pick of the Week in March 2005.  Her third full-length play Say Goodbye Toto, a second co-production with Playwrights 6 and The ARK Theatre Company, ran for nine weeks in 2009, and was rated four out of five stars by Goldstar.com members.  SAY GOODBYE TOTO was published in 2011 by Pioneer Drama Service and received several productions across the nation.

Heidish’s feature film credits include 2 MILLION STUPID WOMEN  (official selection of the Cinequest Film Festival in 2009, debuted on DVD in November of 2010) ,  A STAR FOR CHRISTMAS (Ion Network, December 2012) and THE TRUTH ABOUT YOU, (DVD and streaming, January 2015)

She created the webseries BECKY & KATE: WORKS IN PROGRESS in 2015, writing all six episodes and directing two of them. The webseries has screened at film festivals across the country.

Her contained feature thriller screenplay SCARED LITTLE GIRLS, was a Second Rounder in Austin’s 2016 Screenplay Contest, a Quarter-Finalist in Final Draft’s 2016 Big Break Contest and a Grand Prize Winner in 2016’s Stage 32 Happy Writers Feature Screenplay Contest. Her feature horror screenplay THE 13 CLUB was a a Quarter-Finalist in Final Draft’s 2020 Big Break Contest.

Heidish enjoys in no particular order: caffeine, dogs, aerial fitness, horror movies, airplane turbulence and tequila.
